The transfer of knowledge across boundaries, whether within or across organizations, is increasingly considered a dominant source of competitive advantage (Hislop et al., 2018; Wijk et al., 2008). This competitive advantage is as the success of innovation frequently depends on combining, aligning and creating new knowledge at the intersection of specialized knowledge domains (Carlile, 2004; Hibbert et al., 2016). However, to capitalize on the potential benefits of knowledge sharing, organizations often face a spectrum of barriers and difficulties, and incongruences of an epistemic (Bechky, 2011; Berends et al., 2011; Brown and Duguid, 2001) and strategic nature (Carlile, 2004; Dougherty and Dunne, 2011; Hsiao et al., 2006) |
