Abstract:
In the current world of architecture, where do we go next? Thanks to the introduction of digital information the world becomes more dynamic, being able to instantly interact with other through the invisible web of digital information. VR Tactile is a haptic digital architectural installation that combines physical materiality with digital information to create a multisensory, interactive experience. My investigation within this project was the creation and spatial arrangement of the digital dimension. Utilising the virtual reality headset, the user will experience the merging of the two realities to create it allowed users to explore the haptic-digital installation This thesis project is embedded in the Lab for Digital Spatial Operations [arc/sec] at the University of Auckland. The three students Kyung Ho Min, Xi Shao and Yan Li operates at the AR/VR Garage -New Zealand’s leading innovation hub for AR/VR technology. Using consumer available virtual reality headsets like the HTC Vive, this is merged with a physical 1:1 installation with kinetic components to create tangible digital information in an architectural context.
