Abstract:
The objective of this research was to begin to establish parameters for some form of veterinary drug-like space by comparing descriptor values known for humans to that of veterinary drugs. Humans and animals are both biological systems that share a lot of similarities however there is a great deal of variation in the properties of animals. Because of this it is interesting to look at the properties of pharmaceuticals used between the two. Variations between animals and humans which affect the pharmaceutical usage can be as simple as their size, or, more complex, their biochemistry. The immediate results indicate that there were not notable physiological differences reflected in the physicochemical parameters of the veterinary compounds sampled with 84.7% of veterinary drugs falling within human drug parameters. Known drug index was also looked at.
