We have entered an era of personalisation at scale, but the affordable personalised product has not developed adequately to achieve highest customer satisfaction. Review literature in a wide range of business sectors and industries shows that mass production cannot fulfil the market expectations. High customer demand and industrial completion have encouraged almost all industries to move beyond mass production. Targeting individual requirements was not feasible before evolving cutting-edge Industry 4.0 technologies due to mass personalisation constraints along with the lack of advanced technologies. Although mass personalisation is in the early stage, often considered as a synonymous for mass customisation or personalisation by mistake. Moving from mass production toward mass personalisation has emerged in the fourth industrial revolution through mass customisation. The concept of product customisation has proved a significant investment, so expected more values through product personalisation. Regardless of industries, products, applications and technologies, a big challenge is to define the level of acceptable personalisation. This paper has investigated IoT framework, architecture and platform that suites mass personalisation. In this study, Definition and concept of mass customisation, personalisation and mass personalisation along with the value of IoT and other vital technologies have explored. Finally, challenges and future perspectives have identified and discussed.
