dc.description.abstract |
For prediction and modelling of the gas phase controlled point efficiency in froths on distillation and absorption plates it is necessary to have estimates of the bubble sizes, the effective diffusivity in the gas phase and the residence times of the bubbles within the froth. In this work, point efficiency has been measured in a "two-dimensional" sieve plate column. In such a column the froth structure can be observed and the large bubbles present in the froth can be clearly seen. In a conventional column large bubbles cannot be seen at the walls. Additionally a two dimensional column allows detailed information to be obtained about the bubble formation region. |
