dc.description.abstract The Green's function for harmonic downward forcing of an infinite thin floating plate is derived. The Green's function models the response of a uniform sheet of fast ice when locally loaded at rates at which the ice may be taken to be elastic. A closed-form expression is given for the potential throughout the water and detailed expressions are given for the vertical displacement of the ice sheet. The displacement is graphed for various typical thickness of the ice sheet and for a range of frequencies of forcing. en
