Abstract:
A numerical investigation has been carried out to test the applicability of the use of meteorological data in predicting heat loss from a New Zealand river. Various numerical methods for following a moving shoreline have been investigated and a procedure developed for simulating two dimensional tidal flow in a well mixed estuary, where a large overland movement of the water-line occurs. This has been combined with the heat flow equation to yield a suitable tool for water quality simulation in the shallow Auckland Harbours.
