dc.description.abstract |
A software system to facilitate the use of computers as equipment controllers has been designed. It is centred on a new language called Process Formulation Language (PFL) and includes a compiler, a virtual machine and supporting routines. Detailed consideration of factors conducive to readability, portability, and testability have led to the development of features in the language and system significantly different from that found elsewhere. |
