Abstract:
This report examines workforce and stakeholders’ attitudes, opportunities and motivations about creating a culture of inclusion in the workplace of the Queensland Public Sector. The Queensland report provides an overview of the research problem issues and background, methodology, study findings, and recommendations for addressing the key areas of the Public Service Commission (PSC) Action Plan ( PSC, 2018 ) . In alignment with PSC ’s adoption of a social model of disability, the project team , through the design and delivery of a workshop and survey undertook a person-centred, participatory and inclusive approach to gain insights of key stakeholders’ understandings about inclusion in the public service workplace . Key findings include that in order to overcome issues around non-disclosure, supporting processes of fairness, flexibility and equity as values of an inclusive workforce were needed, as well as a leadership and a cultural shift. A set of recommendations and steps for future research are proposed.
