Abstract:
This research argues that the entrepreneurial mindset is critical to the resilience, objectivity,
growth and determination of an individual’s success. This research further recognises the
effects an entrepreneurial mindset can have, specifically on educational outcomes and the
effects entrepreneurship education can have on the entrepreneurial outcomes for students.
Teaching the entrepreneurial mindset can have significant positive effects on
secondary school students’ attitudes and self-efficacy. This research affirms that teaching
entrepreneurial mindset to secondary school students positively affects students’
entrepreneurial attitudes, learning outcomes and the embedding of key learning elements. The
entrepreneurial mindset programme can support students into entrepreneurship venture
development, or develop their intrapreneurship potential, but, more importantly, it can also
support personal and holistic wellbeing and development beyond entrepreneurial activities.
This research explores the notion of indigenising entrepreneurship education utilising
maramataka, mātauranga Māori and a the development of a Polynesian navigational
methodology, all with a specific focus on entrepreneurial mindset education.
