Abstract:
The chapter describes a framework used to guide teaching staff in universities as they attempt to respond to emerging trends in the capabilities universities seek to develop and the students they seek to serve. The framework draws on a range of theoretical perspectives to identify four summarising shifts in practice to guide academics in their course design and teaching. The chapter begins by describing trends in what and who universities are teaching, it then captures the shifts in practice necessary if we are to respond effectively to these trends, and finally describes the strategies adopted to support faculty as they begin to enact a revised teaching mindset.
