Abstract:
As population increases in urban environments and living spaces become more densely packed, the need for adequate noise control is becoming more acute (crucial). The cost of building materials and the search for renewable materials leads to the need to find a balance between 3 main factors; the material cost, structural capabilities and effectiveness against reducing unwanted noise from neighbouring residences. We are interested in finding ways of simplifying the measurements required to quantify the impact noise insulation in buildings. We propose a method for removing the need to make an impact sound level measurement that will make the rating of impact sound insulation more readily available
