Abstract:
In recent years, the rapid growth of Internet of Things (IoT) and portable devices has brought unprecedented convenience and connectivity but also posed substantial energy challenges. To address these issues and promote sustainability, the integration of solar power and supercapacitors has emerged as a promising solution. This paper explores the feasibility and advantages of combining supercapacitors with solar energy for IoT devices. It discusses the challenges in IoT energy demands, compares supercapacitors to traditional batteries, and examines solar energy integration possibilities. Preliminary investigations into a supercapacitor-driven smartphone and simulation results are presented. The study highlights supercapacitors as a sustainable energy storage option for IoT and offers a glimpse into a greener, more efficient future.
