dc.description.abstract The research objective of this project is to make novel scientific contributions towards the development of an integrated environment for spatio-temporal datasets that can handle the needs of diverse users, and the development of novel ways to access, represent, visualize, and analyze the information content of such an integrated environment, thus optimizing its use. The work performed in this project can be grouped into three areas of activities aiming at the following:Activity I: Our goal is to develop a geospatial knowledge management framework to provide the syntax, context, and semantics for researching, understanding, and leveraging technical and human behaviors related to spatial understanding. More specifically, we are developing a semantic framework for describing relationships between systems, people and data used to create geospatial information products. This includes the design of an agent-based representation of semantic interoperability and exchange between components within a geospatial framework, tools to support the extraction of meaning or interpretation of complex spatio-temporal datasets, and tools for spatial data mining of datasets with many attribute dimensions. en
