Abstract:
A potentiostatic sweep technique was used to study the kinetics of the anodic dissolution of nickel in acidic electrolytes containing perchlorate, acetate, fluoride, chloride, bromide and iodide. In perchlorate and acetate solutions the reaction proceeds through a pre-passive film of NiO or Ni(CH)2. By the use of fast potential sweeps the kinetics of active dissolution in the absence of the prepassive film were revealed.
