The synthesis of the novel bis-spiroacetal (1)via the addition of an α-sulphonyl carbanion to δ-valerolactone followed by an acid catalysed cyclization is described. The stereochemistry was determined by X-ray crystallography and 1H NMR spectroscopy. |
