Abstract:
In recent years a novel series of macrocyclic compounds has been prepared by the condensation of metal-amine complexes with aliphatic carbonyl compounds. These are now widely known and are of considerable current interest, in that they present interesting stereochemical problems, and to a lesser extent, they may serve as limited models to the biologically significant porphyrin and corrin macrocycles. Their stereochemical aspects are the subject of this thesis.
