Abstract:
Platinum (II) complexes are by far the most stable of the various square planar metal structures. As a consequence their synthesis and reaction have for a long time been the subject of extensive investigations. Recently a considerable part of this effort has dealt with investigations into the kinetics and mechanisms of their reactions, and several comprehensive reviews have recently been written 1,2,3,4 as a result. This thesis reports the finding of new synthetic and kinetic platinum (II) studies. Several novel features of the chemistry of platinum(II) have emerged. In addition to these, other features have been observed which are more characteristic of the this field of chemistry.
