Abstract
A “good” investigative question is one that allows for rich exploration of the data in hand, discovery, and thinking statistically. Developing the criteria for what makes a good investigative question was one of the outcomes of the research in a year 10 (age 14–15) class. Responses from pre- and post-tests are explored and the level of comparative investigative question that students can pose is discussed.
