Abstract
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic disorder characterised by hyperglycaemia, insulin resistance and P-cell dysfunction. Complications of diabetes such as nephropathy, retinopathy, neuropathy and macrovascular disease are leading causes of mortality and morbidity. In 2001, there were approximately 150 million cases of diabetes worldwide. It is projected that by the year 2025, its prevalence will double to 300 million cases......
