Abstract:
This poster presents accounts of two Chinese chefs working in New Zealand and participating in my PhD project through 2019. My project aimed to explore their migrations beyond an economic cost-benefit analysis framework. This project adopted an ethnographic methodology and collected rich narratives via participant observations and biographic interviews. The presented narratives are traced through three central conceptual themes: aspirations and desires, migration intermediation, and migration temporalities.
