Abstract
This two phase mixed method project (encompassing six distinct studies) is the largest and most ambitious research program specifically focussed on self-help undertaken in Australia. The findings provide a comprehensive description of self-help strategies and actions that are discussed and promoted for gambling within an Australian context. This research also offers a robust examination of the use and helpfulness of a broad array of self-help strategies and actions across differing gambling populations (i.e., problem gambling status and stage of change), together with a rich exploration of peopleís experiences in attempting to implement such strategies and actions.
